Spoiler... You are the birth plan.

Motherbirth is an 8-week, midwife-led, community-driven container where you prepare your mind, body, and spirit for a thriving birth and postpartum. We do this work so that when the moment arrives, you're meeting it as the Mother who can stay steady inside intensity and walk confidently over new ground, no matter what.

I WANT TO PREPARE MYSELF NOW

Can I tell you a secret?

Most birth prep is built to manage the event of birth. Logistics, hospital bags, birth plans your provider may or may not glance at. You're handed a toolkit, pat on the head, and sent in.

And don't even get me started on the afterthought and one 6-week visit of postpartum.

What it all of it almost never does is hold you.

Not the fears you've been walking around with since you first saw those two lines hanging on the edge of bathroom sink. Not the scenes you've absorbed that women need to be rescued from birth, or what society doesn't acknoweldge that birth and early motherhood do to a woman's body, mind, and heart. Not the part that hopes that if you just learns enough about birth, you'll finally feel ready to give birth. And if you just get through birth, you're through the hardest part.

Information alone was never going to get you there.

And if this isn't your first rodeo — if you had a birth that was technically fine but left you feeling like something happened to you instead of through you — you already know: All that reading didn't cover it last time either.

It usually goes something like this: Baby arrives, vital signs are stable, everyone exhales.

The new mother loves her baby. And obviously she was there, but she can't shake the feeling that somehow the moment came and went without her there.

How you feel about your birth follows you into motherhood.

And, not to be dramatic, but it becoms the difference between walking into your first tender, disorienting, oxytocin-hazed days on solid, albeit tired, legs, or spending the rest of your life wondering, what happened in that room?

You're not the only one Googling answers to this at 2am...

"There's no way I could not feel anxious about this."

"I'll be at a hospital with my whole care team, how could I feel blindsided?"

"You can't feel ready for the unknown. I have to figure it all out as I go."

Picture yourself standing at the edge of a bridge

On one side is the woman you are today. On the other side is the mother you're becoming.

Everyone in your life can walk you to that bridge. They can hold the lantern and cheer from the other side.

But only you can cross it.

Motherbirth prepares you to stay with yourself inside that intensity and to trust you're held even when you're in the part you must do alone.

What's different in 8 weeks

You're not the woman:

trying to squeeze in learning new breathing techniques in between your many prenatal appointments, third trimester fatigue, finishing work deadlines, and washing infant clothes. Cluttering your mind with new information 'just in case' like it's a highschool nightmare and you're cramming at the last minute.

You are the woman:

At start of your third trimester. Already locked in. Already done the work.

Now you get to go quiet. Go inward. Continue to clear your mind for entering the pschyophysical portal of labor.

Not coincidentally, this integration and turning inward is what labor is all about.

Consider this your sign

Pull up a chair, love.

(Big sister Kara has entered the chat.)

Being ready is a choice and a very real possibility.

Because ready = steady.

You don't need to know every twist in the road. You need the right mindset, and extra snacks, for the parts you can't predict. You're bringing everything you've lived/believed/learned/become until now into this experience.

But you're treating birth like it happens in a vacuum. Like you can just figure it out, and should do that alone. Like women haven't evolved over thousands of years to live, birth, and become together.

For most women, a "positive birth" gets measured by logistics — the lighting, whether there were interventions, which way the baby needed to come out. Not by how she felt throughout the experience. Not by whether she felt seen, heard, and held through it.

A positive and empowering experience can happen with or without those things.

Because when it comes down to it, it doesn't depend on everything going 'to plan'.

It depends on you, the ultimate birth plan.

Your beliefs, your mindset, your resilience, your trust, your surrender, your ability to exist inside intensity and change and stay.

This is for the woman who wants to find that sweet spot between being informed and overthinking it...

between proactive and in the flow.

If it feels hard to surrender, it's because it is.

If it feels hard to prepare for a transformation the likes you've never seen before, it's because it is.

If it feels like you're wanting to go all in but also you're scared of losing control, it's because it's scary.

If you want to feel the boundaries of your limitations as pushed by the 5D portal that is labor and birth but also secretly hoping there will be some reason the choice is out of your hands and you need cesarean, it's because it's scary as hell to face the unknown.

(Especially in a culture that tells you you should be scared, stay small /"good", and will likely need to be rescued from the process."

Meanwhile, I can't think of a better woman for the job.

Consider this your sign

Starting birth preparation early gives you something most birth prep doesn't:

TIME.

I'm so over women feeling like they should and must do this panicked birth ed sprint at 32 weeks in the middle of the already busy third trimester.

Birth doesn't happen in a vacuum. You bring your beliefs, habits, mindset, and intuition into pregnancy and labor with you. Birth isn't a test you cram for.

Birth is a becoming.

A real-time giant split-leap into a new identity.

That takes more than memorizing facts about labor and checking birth preference boxes.

It takes the process, and yourself, so they're already an incorporated part of you when the big event happens. That's how you navigate a journey that's bound to have some twists and turns.

How it works

We do this together because this work was always done together.

Women living, creating, birthing, mothering, nurturing together.

Having an intimate community holding you, rooting for you, and seeing you, gives you the safety you need

to brave breaking new ground.

In the simplest sense, for this journey, you need three things:

1) To remember (what your body already knows)

2) To forget (the programming that tells you you can't/don't know)

3) Each other

Motherbirth gives you all three.

Julia

"In the days following our birth, multiple members of my care team commented on how well I handled my emergent birth experience and how much I was able to be present with and nurture my very small (but already thriving) baby. I know I wouldn't have been able to access this place of calm and inner strength without the work I'd done inside Motherbirth."

Shelley

"The wisdom and support you provide in Motherbirth are beyond anything I could have dreamed up for my pregnancy and postpartum! It's an amazing all-encompassing package. I have had what I need to support my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being as I prepared for birth and transition to motherhood."

What you get inside Motherbirth:

Module One Ash: Your Steady Ground

This is where we build the foundation. Before we get anywhere near labor itself, we work with what's really running the show underneath: your beliefs, habits, the subconscious stories you didn't choose but carry anyway, and the mental and physical space you need to actually own your power.

Inside, you'll get:

✓ How to create the physical and mental space that trust can stand on, not some version of "calm" that's actually just suppression

✓ Breathing practices that soothe your nervous system, ease labor discomfort, and support you to work with your body to push

✓ The process for identifying and rewiring the subconscious fears and beliefs that are undermining your confidence (and your labor) without you even knowing it.

Module Two Ember: Clarity Instead of Confusion

Turn "I don't know what's going to happen to my body" into embodied knowing. Essential knowledge about your body's natural rhythms, and how to navigate change and intensity

Inside, you'll get:

✓ Emotional and physical tools that turn setbacks into strength instead of spirals

✓ A step-by-step postpartum blueprint for your first 40 days

✓ How to break the fear-tension-pain cycle and get into a flow state during labor instead of fighting your body the whole way through.

Module Three Flame: Resilience, However This Goes

This is where we get honest about the fact that birth doesn't always go the way you pictured — and prepare you for that too, not just the version where everything goes "right." Understanding your body's hormonal rhythms, navigating cesarean birth if that's the road you end up on, and using your own voice as a tool for pain relief and empowerment, not just something you do because someone told you to.

Inside, you'll get:

✓ The biological rhythms and processes of labor, so you understand what your body's actually doing instead of white-knuckling through the unknown.

✓ How to approach cesarean birth with peace instead of it feeling like failure — turning fear into acceptance and strength.

✓ How to use your voice and language to ease pain and find courage when it matters most.

Our calls put a midwife in your pocket

The calls give you something a course can't:

A person who has sat with enough women in this season to know what's coming before you do. An un-panicked, steady presence in your corner.

Just a midwife who's been around birth for a long time, who shows up for the woman in front of her, which, for these eight weeks, is you. On the calls, we cover practical information like induction, interventions, and pain management alongside going deeper on the core content. Every call includes something from what I call the sacred triad of birth prep: useful information, a practice to connect to your intuition, and something to bring it all together in your body (embodiment).

Hi, I’m Kara Mears.

As a Certified Nurse-Midwife, childbirth educator, and mother, I have spent the last 15 years supporting hundreds of women through pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood. I created Motherbirth to close the huge gap between medical facts and the otherwordly identity-shift of becoming a mother. You were never meant to do this alone.
